NEW YORK, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Great mysteries have baffled men for ages, but there has never been one so vexing as how best to attract the opposite sex. Cargo magazine conducted a survey to find out what women really want. They were asked to respond to dozens of questions on hairstyles, shoes, smell and even underwear.

Below is some of the data collected. The full survey appears in the July/August issue of Cargo on newsstands June 14.

What's Hot? 58% of women say men look sexiest in jeans and a t-shirt
What's Not? Anything overly trendy, 92% leather pants, 91%
chest-hair-baring shirts, and 76% pleats

Boxers or Briefs?
A whopping 94% of the respondents prefer boxers or boxer-briefs while
only 4% prefer tighty whities.
21% say go au naturel and one wild woman loves the thong.

Hair
Good news about hair loss -- it doesn't bother women as much as it does
the men themselves. 48% of the survey takers say guys shouldn't even
worry about it, and 32% say to go with the flow and cut it all off. Only
1% suggested hiding it under a cap or a comb-over

Manscaping -- Should a man wax, pluck, or trim his ...
Back Hair
55% of women said that back hair should be removed only if it is poking
out of his collar
35% said any hair on the back is too much

Chest Hair
28% said that a man's chest is supposed to be hairy
40% said that a little trim couldn't hurt

63% of women said that a man should keep them groomed

58% of women they would rather they didn't, citing long toe nails and
lots of hair as turnoffs. One woman went as far as to say that "Too many
guys have hobbit-looking feet: hairy with weird toenails."

The What A Woman Wants Survey was conducted over a period of 4 weeks. Women logged on to a link on either luckymag.com or glamour.com. A separate survey for men was posted on cargomag.com 866 women and 211 men responded.
